WELCOME TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

We hope this letter finds you enjoying a fun filled, relaxing summer. We are excited about the 2017/2018 school year, and we thank you for sending your child(ren) to Ecorse Community High School.

As we prepare for the opening of school on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, this letter is being sent to give you some important information concerning students who will attend Ecorse High School.

Please mark your calendars for these important events:

August 23, 2017- Freshman Orientation – 8:00a.m. -11:00a.m.

August 23, 2017 – Sophomore Orientation – 1:00 p.m. – 3:00p.m.

August 24, 2017- Junior Orientation – 8:00a.m.- 11:00a.m.

August 24, 2017- Senior Orientation- 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m.

With the beginning of another school year, I would like to remind you of some important school procedures that parents and students should keep in mind as the year progresses. It takes the cooperation of parents, students, and the staff to make the school a place where your students can be successful in achieving the good education you want them to have.

The student day for the high school is 8:00a.m. – 3:35p.m. Students not staying for a supervised activity and walking home are expected to leave the building after dismissal. While we encourage students to take part in supervised after school activities, we do not want students “hanging around” after school unsupervised.

Regular School Dismissal – 3:35p.m.

Half- Day Dismissal-11:15p.m.

Early Dismissal – 1:45p.m.

Enclosed you will find a district calendar; a calendar specifically for the high school will be given to the students at a later date.

Emergency Information and Procedures

Each year it is important to meet with parents and students to update school information. All students must have an Emergency Medical Card on file, with a current address, telephone/cellular number. All mail including report cards will be sent to the address on file. In the event that information that was submitted changes, please notify the office as soon as possible. Please note: A student will only be released to individuals listed on the emergency card that provide proper identification.

Student ID’s

All students will receive one free ID badge. Students will need their ID to enter the building. If your child loses their ID, they will have to purchase another one for $5.00 in the main office.

Transportation

The transportation department will provide bus stop information available for pick up at Orientation.

Lunch Procedures

Ecorse High has a closed campus lunch period. Students must remain in the cafeteria during their lunch period. They cannot leave for home, nor can they be anywhere outside the building or in the hallways. Students may not be signed out for lunch only. Students who leave the building without permission will face disciplinary action. All students must have a lunch application on file (even if they supply their own lunch).

Your continued support will help us to all have a productive academic school year.

Educationally yours,

Kenneth J. McPhaul Jr.

Principal
